Shari & Zach's Country Chic Wedding

I was with Shari and Zach on June 11th, capturing classics at St Thomas and the Borchard Regional Fairgrounds.

From the engagement session at the 'biggest Live Oak tree in the state' in Rockport, to the bridal session at the Alamo in San Antonio, the wedding was history in the making.

The reception was decorated beautifully, with black linen tables draped with burlap runners, and candlelights under big hydrangea arrangements.  As you walked in, you were greeted with vanilla aroma put off by the tons of candles everywhere.  By the sign-in book, the bride's family wedding gowns and accesories were on display.  The cake sat on a bed of deer antlers, and an old door turned on its side sat atop two rustic Jack Daniels barrels.  A couple of wooden benches wrapped a corner of the dance floor.  Authentic.

Mariachis, then Elvis and two Showgirls, a Grand March and band Oso Texas were among the entertainment for the night.  This group sure knows how to have a good time!  Thanks Ruschhaupt and Zbranek families!  And congratulations, Shari and Zach!  ~AP

Remember the Alamo...well, Shari did.  She is a history teacher, and obviously loves what she does.

After the Alamo, we went to the River Walk, to a place called Marriage Island.  I had recently seen a shoot with toole, and wanted to do my own rendition.  I thought Shari seemed so 'ready for the plunge' in this shot.

The bouquet's wrap and the table runners coordinated the look with the same burlap fabric.  The bronzed star pins brought the Alamo bridal session back into the picture.

Taking a breather to, literally, kick off the shoes...

In order to get this shot right, I had to push the flash pretty hard to compensate for the harsh sunlight.  This was about 4 in the Texas afternoon, which feels like high noon anywhere else in the world.  :)

Even the smell of vanilla in the air at the entrance of the reception brought a nostalgic feel.  The reception was held at the Borchard Regional Fairgrounds, and decorated by LaDeDa Events.

Yes, you see Elvis.  He is alive and well, and apparently resides in CC.

I pulled the couple away from everything and walked down an empty field to this part of the fence that made them look like they were alone for miles.  I always like to do a quickie session during the reception that takes the bride and groom away from the happy commotion.  This is when the beauty of the occasion can be wrapped up in a couple of shots...

I love a coat over a guy's shoulder.  I love a Texas sunset.  I love...

Backlighting creates a mood...I normally have to set up a tripod with a triggered flash to get this, but thanks to BigBoxPro and their lighting, I borrowed some!

Timeless!

Jeff & Rene's Vineyard Wedding

This Texas vineyard wedding was a storybook setting for Jeff and Rene's exchange of vows. The bridesmaids wore a beautiful merlot shade of red . Spring was in the air and you could literally hear birds chirpping as Rene's father walked her down the grassy aisle, which was lined with fern-topped wine barrels. After a few teary moments, and their "I do's" behind them, Jeff and Rene sealed it with a kiss at sunset.

Just beyond the bridge and coy pond was a cobblestone building with a dim glow. The entire evening had a naturally romantic feel, and the love between Jeff and Rene was so apparent to everyone in attendance.

 Congratulations to the happy couple!

Kara & Danyl...January 8th

Kara and Danyl are a true match.  The marriage ceremony was beautiful, but the party side of the celebration was so much fun, that I included only photos from the reception!  To see  more, check our website the end of January.

This wedding was classy and deisgned for the season.  The food was superb, the lighting and decoration set the mood.  Mansion Royal really knows how to throw a great event!  Because of the fabulous guestlist, the dance floor was hot.  Even I boogied down a bit; I can't help myself when there's good music.  The Maid of Honor toasted to what may lay ahead: to the twists, turns and bends!

To those times, hold on, smile and enjoy the ride...Congratulations, Kara and Danyl!

What to Wear to a Shoot

Have a photo session and don't know what to wear?? Searching for the right look?? Well we have put together some color palettes below to help you get inspired. Don't be afraid to PLAY WITH COLOR. It will make your photo session all the better. All of the looks found below can be found at your local Old Navy store now!!

Choose a base tone, and add bits of bright color randomly. Everyone in the group does not have to match perfectly.

Be creative! Add items that are bright and bold. Jewelry is a great way to add a funky flavor; we just got a Charmin' Charlie's, which is a great place to find accessories in any color at a good price.

Think about your background or location. The color scheme above might be nice by water...

We've said it once, and we'll say it again....DON'T BE AFRAID TO PLAY WITH COLOR! Sure, the traditional black and white or denim and white are classic, but don't be scared to try something new. It just may give your photos that extra dazzle you were looking for!

Leara & Aaron...Lovebirds

Leara is not only a stunning beauty, but she's got stunning taste.  Simple vintage is what I would label it, although we hate labels around here...

From the ornate beading in the breast bodice of the gown to the 20's-homage headpiece and veil, she screamed CLASSIC.  The bridesmaids wore a slate blue linen dress, with a matching organza rose necklace, and carried peach and ivory roses.

Leara carries her hair and make-up crew with her most of the time...now if I could only get this kind of service!

The gorgeous couple...

Much Love out of Austin really knows how to get the dance floor shakin'...the sax player couldn't resist this fine circle of friends!

Melissa & Gary's Engagements

I had so much fun with these two!  Their Wedding Day will be easy-going, I can tell by their demeanor.  We caught great light at a church downtown, and then stopped by the park for a quick landscape shot.  Despite the wind and the light chill, M & G did a great job with their hair, and being patient with me to capture that "right" moment.  Much thanks!  Amanda

Ashley & Mike {January 9th}

Congratulations Ashley and Mike. You truly are a perfect pair. The ceremony was intimate and beautiful. The wedding party looked dashing in their monkey suits. The Courtyard helped accentuate the fashionable bride and groom's style. The toasts had everyone laughing and the drinks kept everyone dancing. Friends and family gathered with crackling sparklers in hand to send the love birds off to their Hawaiian honeymoon getaway.

Yet another beautiful day on the Corpus Christi Bay :)

Melissa and Gary were so much fun to shoot and all of their photos came out ah-mazinggg!

The wedding should be a blast!!
